Position Summary:

The Keystone Ancient Forest Park Maintenance Specialist is accountable for ensuring the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of the park and its facilities. This role includes providing excellent customer service, overseeing maintenance tasks, and supporting volunteers and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the opening and closing of facilities during operational hours.
  • Welcome guests and offer necessary information.
  • Ensure the visitor center and surrounding areas are kept clean and orderly.
  • Support the trail maintenance schedule and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Apply conservation methods and strategies effectively.
  • Assist the KAF Visitor Center Coordinator with clerical tasks, including organizing volunteer activities and maintaining records.
  • Train, guide, and engage with volunteers, educators, community groups, and the public.
  • Conduct custodial duties before and after daily visits, park events, and community gatherings.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, perform grounds upkeep such as mowing, digging, clearing debris, seeding, and fertilizing, ensuring public safety and the overall condition of park areas.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned, including support for other departments as needed.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
  • At least six months of experience in customer service.
  • Preferred experience in trail development and maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain Service Technician Certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  • Understanding of Parks and Recreation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation equipment and facilities.
  • Ability to enforce curfew regulations.
  • Familiarity with various forestry and landscaping tools.
  • Capability to identify potential trail hazards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience assisting with prescribed burns.
  • Skills in the removal of invasive plant and animal species.
  • Basic equipment maintenance skills.
  • Experience in planning, promoting, setting up, and dismantling special events.
  • Proficiency in operating computers and modern office equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to perform routine maintenance tasks.
