Job Summary

The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the Operating Room team at Conway Medical Center. As a key member of the surgical team, you will assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients under the direction of a registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field, ensuring a safe and clean environment for surgical procedures.
  • Prepare the Operating Room with the necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in the implementation of sterile techniques and maintain a high level of asepsis.
  • Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, physicians, and department heads to provide exceptional patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Meet one of the following minimum requirements for certification:
    • Certification from an accredited Surg Tech educational program and completion of the National Board of Surg Technology exam within 90 calendar days from graduation date.
    • Certification as a Surg Tech by the US military and completion of 15 hours of CEU's annually.
    • Employment as a Surg Tech in a South Carolina healthcare facility prior to January 1, 2008, and completion of 15 hours of CEU's annually.
