Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Healthcare Language Specialist to join our team at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. As a key member of our language access team, you will provide expert interpretation and translation services to patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring that language barriers do not impede access to quality care. Your leadership skills and experience in managing teams will enable you to coordinate daily operations, develop training programs, and analyze data to inform process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare interpretation and translation, with experience working in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote language access, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring that our language services meet the highest standards. Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert interpretation and translation services to patients, physicians, nurses, and other health professionals in one or more foreign languages
* Lead a team of interpreters, assigning tasks, coordinating work, and ensuring proper methods are followed
* Coordinate site interpretation requests, scheduling in-person services, and triaging urgent cases
* Develop and implement training programs for lower-level interpreters, including orientation, instructions, and in-service activities
* Translate and type complex materials, such as consent forms, patient education materials, and medical questionnaires
* Analyze data on language access needs and make recommendations for process improvement

Requirements
* 2 years of experience at the level of a Healthcare Interpreter providing interpretation services in a healthcare setting in one or more foreign languages AND successful completion of a Healthcare Interpreter Training Program, which includes a section covering Medical Terminology OR 2 years of experience at the level of a Healthcare Interpreter providing interpretation services in a healthcare setting in one or more foreign languages AND certification or credential issued by a recognized Healthcare Interpreter credentialing organization
* Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions
* Ability to perform the essential functions of this classification, with or without reasonable accommodation
