The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) plays a vital role in providing therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment. Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, the OTA is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and other interventions.

Licenses and Certifications

The ideal candidate must have and maintain a current, valid state OTA licensure or certification. A current valid CPR certification is also preferred.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program and have 0-1 years of experience in a related field.

Roles and Responsibilities

The OTA will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the implementation of treatment plans developed by occupational therapists
  • Providing therapeutic exercises, activities, and adaptive techniques to patients
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation related to patients' responses to therapy and reporting findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Providing education and guidance to patients and their families on home exercises, adaptive techniques, and strategies to support continued progress
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Supporting Occupational Therapists in evaluating patient needs and progress, providing additional observations and insights
