Job DescriptionEssential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Independently perform specialized testing procedures appropriate to the specialty. Conduct diagnostic clinical photography and digital imaging to support physicians in arriving at a diagnosis and prescribing treatment.
  • Perform preliminary screening examinations for physician review. Review patients' charts, conditions, and physicians' notes to plan and determine the method of testing and position patients.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain equipment to conduct tests and procedures appropriate to the specialty. Assist patients in transfers to/from wheelchairs, stretchers, exam tables, etc.
  • Provide information to patients concerning specific tests and procedures. Read and interpret obtained images. Record test results. Identify and report abnormalities.
  • Coordinate the processing of slides and film. Instruct and act as a source of information on testing techniques, procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Assist physicians with basic patient care and medical procedures set-ups.
  • Analyze and compile patient information.
  • Create visual aids for lecture presentations and publications.
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
  • Report equipment problems and act as a liaison with repair personnel.
  • Maintain quality control checks and log service records. Order and maintain inventory of supplies. Maintain disposal inventory per department protocol regarding date of use/disposal.
  • Perform additional functions related to clinical activities.
  • Assist with training and acclimation of new hire scribes.
Qualifications
  • A High School Degree or GED.
  • Ophthalmic Assistant Certification by JCAHPO or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
  • Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner.
  • Computer and typing skills are required - minimum of 45 wpm.
  • Flexible with full-time work schedule including rotating weekends.
  • Passion for helping others in an outpatient setting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in any service industry a plus.
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
  • Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed, required.
  • Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on-site location.
