About the Role

Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a Gastroenterology Nurse Specialist. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver High-Quality Patient Care: Provide nursing care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  2. Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  3. Manage Patient Flow: Direct patient flow and prepare patients for exams, procedures, and treatments.
  4. Accurately Document Patient Information: Record pertinent information in the Electronic Medical Record and ensure necessary patient care documentation is processed in a timely manner.
  5. Triaging Patient Calls: Accurately triage patient phone calls and ensure that callbacks and prescription refills are completed in a timely fashion consistent with provider guidelines, scope of practice, and clinic guidelines.
  6. Assist with Procedures: Assist providers with procedures as directed and maintain asepsis. Perform invasive procedures for which the RN has the training and skills.
  7. Monitor Physician Schedules: Proactively monitor physician schedules for accuracy.
  8. Continuing Education: Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care.
  9. Participate in Team Meetings: Actively participate in the cleaning of shared work areas, keeping exam rooms clean, neat and stocked.
  10. Orientation and Training: Participate in the orientation and training of new employees.
Requirements
  1. Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing: Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
  2. Current Unencumbered State License: Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse.
  3. Basic Life Support Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in Acute Care: 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital and/or in an individual provider's office or clinic setting.
  2. Working Knowledge of the Nursing Process: Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process.
  3. Basic Clinical Skills: Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care.
  4. Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients.
  5. Multi-Tasking: Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.
