RN Gastroenterology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Gastroenterology team at Optum. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Patient Care: Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
- Manage Patient Flow: Direct patient flow and prepare patients for exams, procedures, and other medical interventions.
- Accurately Document Patient Information: Record pertinent information in the Electronic Medical Record and ensure necessary patient care documentation is processed in a timely manner.
- Triaging Patient Calls: Accurately triage patient phone calls and ensure that callbacks and prescription refills are completed in a timely fashion consistent with provider guidelines, scope of practice, and clinic guidelines.
- Assist with Procedures: Assist providers with procedures as directed and maintain asepsis. Perform invasive procedures for which the RN has the training and skills.
- Monitor Physician Schedules: Proactively monitor physician schedules for accuracy and ensure that patient appointments are scheduled efficiently.
- Continuing Education: Improve the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in the cleaning of shared work areas, keeping exam rooms clean, neat, and stocked, and participate in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
- Licensure: Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital and/or in an individual provider's office or clinic setting.
- Knowledge: Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process, basic clinical skills to provide patient care, and ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients.
- Skills: Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.
