Position Overview:

The Software Solutions Engineer II plays a crucial role in the independent development and design of products that enhance the experience for both customers and associates. As a member of a collaborative team comprising engineers with varying levels of expertise, you will have the opportunity to cultivate both technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and maintaining production applications. Additionally, the Software Solutions Engineer II may engage in tasks related to configuration, security, resilience, performance optimization, and production oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 60% Delivery and Execution: Collaborates with product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to develop secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions. Ensures adherence to quality and change control standards through documentation and reviews. Works alongside the Product Team to prepare user stories that are developer-ready, comprehensible, and testable. Writes custom scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and testing scenarios. Conducts destructive testing to verify resilience in production environments. Engages in configuration and setup activities on large-scale projects using approved methodologies. Adapts commercial off-the-shelf solutions to meet evolving business requirements. Develops meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and response mechanisms to proactively address issues.
  • 20% Learning: Proactively seeks opportunities for growth and challenges through both formal and informal development channels. Gains insights from both successful and unsuccessful experiments when addressing new challenges.
  • 20% Planning and Alignment: Collaborates with team members in agile processes. Contributes to the creation of innovative strategies for team success. Engages openly and comfortably with diverse groups, fostering partnerships and collaborative efforts to achieve shared goals.

Management Structure:

  • This position typically reports to a Software Engineering Manager or Senior Manager.
  • This role does not have any direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel is required for this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • The majority of the time is spent seated in a comfortable position, with frequent opportunities for movement. Occasionally, there may be a need to lift or move light items.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is conducted in a comfortable indoor environment, with infrequent and non-objectionable unpleasant conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries for relational databases.
  • Experience in developing complex dashboards/reports using BI tools, preferably Tableau.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Experience in an object-oriented programming language, preferably Python.
  • Knowledge of source code version control systems.
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL database technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools.
  • Understanding of microservice-based architectures.
  • Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Exposure to security frameworks for user and service authorization and authentication.
  • Experience in creating and executing unit, functional, destructive, and performance tests.

Minimum Education:

  • Typically acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
