Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with career exploration through internships, shadowing experiences, employment, volunteering, and other career-related activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate job site tours, career fairs, job fairs, workshops, and other career-related activities.
  • Assist students with occupational, educational, and employment research using experiential learning techniques and automation.
  • Assist students with establishing short- and long-term career goals and career plans for mobility and progression.
  • Assist with career education curriculum development and instructional techniques.
  • Develop and facilitate training sessions for professional development, career education, succession planning, and on- and off-campus recruiting.
  • Conduct needs assessments for students, faculty, and employers.
  • Refer students to other support services when necessary that are outside the scope of career services.
  • Facilitate career education seminars in workplace readiness, leadership development, teamwork, organizational management, and career kinetics.
  • Direct students to vocational resources and assist with submission of applications for graduate school, scholarships, grants, financial aid, and employment.
  • Supervise work-study students.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in an Education, Counseling, Human Resources, or other human relations field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in career and/or academic coaching, advising, and counseling at the collegiate level.
  • Experience in developing and managing special projects.
  • Experience with innovating and managing academic and career-related programs.
Performance Standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the DSU Fundamentals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
  • Handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
