Job Summary

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of experts in designing and developing propulsion motors. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance motors from concept to high-volume production, while increasing energy and cost efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop 3D CAD and 2D drawings for stators, rotors, speed sensing, and interconnect assemblies
  • Drive innovation in winding technology, magnet technology, steel stamping and lamination joining, electrical insulation systems, interconnections, and thermal sensing
  • Select the optimum candidates for a given project, considering not just the newest technology but also its feasibility and cost-effectiveness
  • Identify and qualify suppliers of raw materials, components, and assemblies
  • Design validation and durability testing profile development and data analysis
  • Carry designs through to high-volume production, ensuring DFM, cost reductions, and second sourcing
  • Mentor Junior Engineers and Interns
Requirements
  • Evidence of exceptional ability in motor design and development
  • Experience with multiple coil winding and termination technologies
  • Experience with multiple magnet technologies
  • Worked with an international supply chain
  • Automotive design and validation experience

Expected Compensation

$116,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
