Job Overview

FUNCTION: The Loan Processing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the lifecycle of consumer and mortgage loans from initiation to funding. This position is essential in supporting the Origination and Underwriting teams by gathering necessary documentation and overseeing the transaction to ensure timely closings while meeting client expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure efficient and compliant processing of consumer and mortgage applications from initiation to post-closing.
  2. Adhere to regulations such as HMDA, TRID, and Reg B, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all loan processing activities.
  3. Conduct initial reviews of loan files for completeness and utilize Automated Underwriting Systems to process loans, collaborating with Loan Officers and Underwriters to address conditions and stipulations.
  4. Input loan data as per loan officer's directives and assist in calculating Debt to Income and Loan to Value ratios.
  5. Gather necessary documentation and resolve outstanding loan conditions in partnership with underwriters and loan officers.
  6. Order necessary services such as appraisals and title work, ensuring all borrower notifications are sent when required.
  7. Perform compliance checks and fraud detection measures on each borrower to maintain loan quality.
  8. Manage the receipt of loan fees and perform general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  9. Update loan files and maintain accurate records in the loan origination system.
  10. Prepare loan files for processing in the loan origination system.
  11. Generate management reports detailing pipeline values and loan statuses.
  12. Coordinate closing activities with title companies and clients to ensure a seamless process.
  13. Strive for a positive experience for borrowers throughout the loan process.
  14. Maintain open communication with team members to facilitate a smooth customer journey.
  15. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
  16. Complete required compliance training promptly and apply learned concepts to daily tasks.
  17. Monitor rate pricing and make necessary adjustments to maintain competitive offerings.
  18. Foster positive communication with customers and internal departments, utilizing effective interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. In-depth knowledge of Retail and Mortgage loan requirements.
  2. Understanding of real estate, automobile, and unsecured lending practices, including federal and state regulations.
  3. Proficiency in Automated Underwriting Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
  5. Competence in calculating financial underwriting ratios.
  6. 1 to 3 years of experience in mortgage and consumer loan processing is preferred.
  7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  8. Familiarity with loan documentation for pre and post-funding reviews.
  9. Excellent communication skills to represent the bank positively.
  10. High school diploma or equivalent; some college education is preferred.
  11. Proactive in communicating loan status while ensuring confidentiality of customer information.
