Our commitment is to provide affordable, non-exclusive access to the drug discovery community, ranging from academic researchers to major biopharmaceutical companies. At Alloy, we believe that competition should focus on delivering the best therapies to patients swiftly, rather than on exclusive access to superior platforms. We reinvest 100% of our revenue into innovation and expanding access to innovation, embodying our motto: MAY THE BEST DRUG WIN.
Headquartered in Waltham, MA, with additional facilities in Cambridge, UK; Basel, Switzerland; and Athens, GA, Alloy thrives on a culture of accountability, trust, and open communication. This position, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, involves leading a team of 50 professionals supported by a global network of nearly 100 individuals across our various locations. The ADS team employs state-of-the-art technologies in molecular biology, protein sciences, B-cell cloning, phage and yeast display, and novel antibody formats to discover and enhance antibody-based therapeutics. In this role, you will oversee antibody discovery strategies and program execution, collaborating with external partners to advance medicinal solutions.
Role Responsibilities
As the Vice President of Antibody Research Initiatives, you will be instrumental in defining and guiding strategies for our antibody discovery efforts. This leadership role encompasses driving the development of innovative antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, as well as T-cell receptor mimetic therapeutics. You will manage numerous therapeutic discovery programs annually, working closely with large pharmaceutical companies, emerging biotech firms, and academic institutions. A critical aspect of this position is leveraging your deep understanding of drug discovery to formulate effective project strategies in partnership with our collaborators. This highly scientific role demands expertise in antibody technologies and drug discovery processes. You will ensure excellence in execution by evaluating scientific strategies, analyzing data in real-time, and making necessary adjustments to guarantee successful therapeutic discovery campaigns. Additionally, you will lead teams to ensure the successful completion of project activities, achieving shared goals and adhering to strict timelines.
Impactful Leadership
In this role, you will:
- Drive: Scientific direction and execution of monoclonal, bispecific, and TCRm discovery projects.
- Innovate: Ensure the integration of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in antibody discovery.
- Collaborate: Efficiently incorporate protein engineering and engage with external partners in biologics discovery.
- Deliver: Execute partner projects effectively, balancing quality, timelines, and costs to meet therapeutic discovery objectives.
- Lead: Inspire and mentor a cross-functional team of scientists, exemplifying commitment to project success.
- Communicate: Foster productive interactions with stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns promptly.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology).
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience with a strong grasp of antibody and early drug discovery.
- A proven track record in leading biologics discovery teams.
- Extensive experience in antibody discovery and engineering.
- Expertise in designing and optimizing antibody-based therapeutics.
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with a focus on motivating and mentoring team members.
