Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, candidates must effectively manage the following duties:

  • Safely operate excavators, employing specific controls and attachments to fulfill project requirements, including trench digging and material handling.
  • Maintain precision in excavation to prevent damage to underground utilities and structures.
  • Adhere to project blueprints and specifications to ensure compliance with excavation standards.
  • Communicate progress updates to project managers and supervisors.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on the excavator, reporting any issues to management.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures as mandated by the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with other site personnel to promote safety and operational efficiency.
  • Document incidents or equipment malfunctions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilize internal systems to report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required, including operating other heavy machinery.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in operating excavators and heavy equipment on civil construction sites is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of excavation machinery operation is essential.
  • Ability to interpret building plans related to structural concrete and land grading is necessary.
  • A valid Class E Florida Driver License with a clean driving record is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and follow both written and verbal instructions is necessary.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be prepared to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • This role involves prolonged operation of heavy machinery.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
