Community College of Philadelphia is seeking qualified applicants for part-time English Generalist Adjunct Faculty positions for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Job Summary:The Department of English invites applications for part-time positions to teach a variety of English courses, including developmental reading and writing, English as a second language (ESL), college writing, literature, communication studies, mass media, theater, and creative writing.
Responsibilities:- Teach a range of English courses, including developmental reading and writing, ESL, college writing, literature, communication studies, mass media, theater, and creative writing.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to promote student success and retention.
- Assess student learning and learning outcomes at the course, program, and institution levels.
- Participate in the academic life of the College, including participation in graduation, recruitment events, general assemblies, student life activities, and other cross-functional teams.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Master's degree in English, Rhetoric, or Composition, or related degrees in Fine Arts, English Education, and Reading/Literacy.
- Prior teaching experience required.
- Experience using technology or a strong willingness to engage students through the use of technology.
- Available to work at the Main Campus, North East, North West, and West Regional Campuses.
- Related work experience in the field, professional licensure and certifications, or other demonstrated competencies required for effective teaching and student learning outcomes.
- Experience teaching at the college level, preferably in a college writing program, or working with students in developmental English courses.
- Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations and addressing equity gaps.
- Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college.
- Bilingual or other language proficiency.
