**Job Description:** We are seeking a highly skilled Language Specialist to join our team at the James & Grace Lee Boggs School in Detroit. As a Language Specialist, you will provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a strong commitment to meeting the needs of diverse students, parents, and staff. The salary for this position is estimated to be around $70,000-$90,000 per year, based on national averages and location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff in planning educational intervention, curriculum, and teaching strategies to best meet the needs of students.
  • Schedule interventions using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration, and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment.
  • Meet with related school personnel to coordinate specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
  • Apply a systematic workload model to facilitate the organization of the speech-language program within the school.

Requirements:

  • Approved Michigan speech-language pathologist who is certified by the Michigan Department of Education or who is fully licensed.
  • Skills in the administration and interpretation of tests.
  • Skills in Speech therapy psychological report writing.
  • The capacity to interview, consult, and counsel with school personnel, parents, pupils, and others.
  • The capacity to communicate findings to professionals, parents, pupils, and others in a meaningful manner.
