About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy Specialist to join our team at Cook Group. As a key member of our global data privacy program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with applicable data privacy and security regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Provide guidance and advice on applicable data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, and PIPL.
  • Agreement Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and provide input on applicable agreements, assessments, notices, statements, policies, and processes.
  • Employee Education and Training: Create educational articles, trainings, and resources to support employee understanding of data privacy regulations.
  • Program Management: Update annual employee trainings, onboard new employees, and maintain content on the global data privacy program intranet.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Participate in meetings with business partners, assess data privacy risks, and offer risk mitigation options.
  • Regulatory Updates: Support the Government Affairs team with regulatory updates and maintain transparency of daily workflow status using team tools.
  • Internal Audits and Investigations: Assist with internal audits and risk assessments as requested, and participate in data incident response as needed.
  • Professional Development: Prioritize reading industry papers and briefs, attending webinars and conferences to maintain current knowledge of the regulatory landscape.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) and Juris Doctor required.
  • Certifications: CIPP certification preferred.
  • Experience: Mandatory minimum 1-3+ years experience in the privacy profession.
  • Skills: Demonstrated solid understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, PIPL, and US State data consumer laws.
  • Personal Qualities: Professional, approachable demeanor with excellent oral presentation and writing skills.
