Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at HCA Florida West Marion Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support functions and promoting a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Surgical Services suite.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments, and supplies needed for surgical cases.
- Communicate, interact, and participate in teamwork on the unit to provide patient care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process. Communicate and participate in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the Registered Nurse.
- Serve as the patient and family advocate with respect to patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
- May have access to the pharmacy or designated areas to transport, assemble, or stock inventory of non-scheduled drugs and biologicals.
- Promote and display a positive customer-oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
- Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Use system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Follow established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.
- Use Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Surgical Technician program is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- BLS (AHA Healthcare Provider) is required.
- Previous scrubbing experience is preferred.
- 1 year of experience preferred.
