Job Summary:

The Senior Java Software Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing, implementing, and testing Java-based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
  • Working with previously written code and making modifications as necessary.
  • Ensuring software performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Participating in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
  • Contributing to the completion of program and project milestones under the specific guidance of their immediate supervisor.
  • Following established Software processes and procedures, development, documentation, and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment level), external and internal interfaces, and other software engineering work products/artifacts.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Five (5) years of experience in object-oriented software design and development using Java in a Linux environment and using unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit).
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Perl and Python.
  • Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment.
  • An active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:

We prefer candidates with experience in:

  • DevOps environment using Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, Jira, Git, Bitbucket, and Gradle.
  • Agile Development environment using Scrum and Kanban.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Experience using the Atlassian tool suite.
  • Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, especially in a defense or aerospace setting.
  • A Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
