Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams, positioning them according to departmental standard operating procedures and explaining procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Obtain pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports, consult with referring physicians, and determine the appropriate ultrasound exam required.
  • Set up equipment to administer exams in a timely fashion, using technical judgment to ensure accurate results.
  • Recognize and report any changes in patient condition, including fainting, discoloration, or motor abnormality complaints.
  • Document image details, label studies, and maintain records and logs of exams performed.
  • Perform minor repairs, calibration checks, and troubleshoot mechanical problems with ultrasound equipment.
Requirements
  • Vocational or technical school diploma required.
  • Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience required.
