About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Community Options, Inc. in Binghamton, NY. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents by performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Develop and implement a schedule of basic maintenance tasks, complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner, and ensure repairs are made safely and in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Mechanical Systems and Structural Components: Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components, including appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.
  • Basic Maintenance Tasks: Perform basic maintenance tasks, including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing work.
  • Contractor Management: Advise management when an outside contractor may be necessary, review contractor estimates to ensure they accurately reflect the required repairs and reasonable job costs, and follow OSHA guidelines for safety and the proper handling of tools.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation, and perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED with three years of maintenance experience.
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Training and Certifications: Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to work safely with hands and power tools, experience with problem-solving against multiple priorities, ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and excellent time management skills.
