Your Role

We are in search of a Senior Architectural Project Leader to join our collaborative buildings team. This pivotal role will contribute to Stantec's mission by overseeing the architecture-engineering team in the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale projects, with construction values ranging from $30 million to over $200 million. You will serve as the technical authority for the Buildings/AE team, working closely with project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Your extensive experience will enable you to navigate all stages of project development, guiding the production of design and contract documents. You will focus on innovation, utilizing sustainable materials and green architecture principles to create cutting-edge prototypes. Additionally, you will lead the development of integrated design proposals, maintain building information models, and prepare various outputs and drawings throughout the project lifecycle, while mentoring team members and collaborating effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical teams on projects.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expertise on codes, standards, building systems, and materials.
  • Develop technical specifications for projects.
  • Engage in design development through sketches, electronic models, and visual presentations.
  • Utilize BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of buildings and components.
  • Participate in design reviews and critiques.
  • Serve as the technical lead for design-build initiatives.
  • Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and revise documentation across various architectural phases.
  • Participate in bidding and negotiation processes.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
  • Facilitate project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the technical team in producing contract documents.
  • Engage in client meetings to discuss project requirements and conduct value analysis.
  • Coordinate specifications with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability reviews.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects.
Qualifications

Skills and Credentials
  • Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria and California Building Codes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of architectural document production and the interplay between drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in developing technical project specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of construction systems, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to conduct space planning and block planning in line with building programs.
  • Proficient in Revit for developing floor plans and details.
  • Capable of reviewing the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience leading teams through all phases of architectural document production.
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thinking.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying concepts effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, Bluebeam Studio, BIM 360, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience with E-Specs is preferred but not mandatory.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Architecture is required, along with a valid Architect license. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in the architectural-engineering industry, including at least 5 years in a project architect role leading an AE team. LEED accreditation is a plus. This position may require travel up to 25% of the time, and fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
