Job Summary

The Non-Destructive Test Engineering (NDTE) Supplier Support Group at General Dynamics Electric Boat has an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to join our team as an NDT Engineer I/II. In this role, you will provide technical guidance to suppliers and internal/external customers on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) requirements for nuclear submarine construction and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend In-depth Supplier Assessments (ISAs) to evaluate supplier NDT performance and program administration.
  • Support follow-up activities identified during ISAs, including interfacing and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with NDT Examiners to provide technical guidance, expertise, corrective actions, and problem resolution for suppliers.
  • Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of NDT.
  • Travel for this position is expected to be 25% or less.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Engineering.
  • 0-4 years of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance from the Department of Defense.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering experience in aerospace, defense, heavy fabrication, or shipbuilding applications.
  • Experience with NDT methods and applications to ensure acceptable weld and base metal performance for submarine construction.
  • Leadership experience.

Skills

  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand documents referencing Non-Destructive Testing and interpret inspection requirements.
  • Ability to draft and peer-review supplier and internal documentation.
