About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary information is obtained and up-to-date.
  • Assist with procedures, relay instructions from physicians to patients, and collect patient data.
  • Administer medications as directed by physicians and perform accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and perform patient care services that support the physician's practice.
  • Manage medical records, charts, and electronic medical records (EMR) with ease.
  • Communicate and document patient concerns to physicians, physician assistants, or nurses.
  • Work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for patient medication, including refills.
Requirements
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or military training equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures, and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certification through one of the private agencies approved by the Medical Board of California.
  • Familiarity with an electronic practice management system.
