  • Schedule:  1.0FTE
  • Salary: $33.65 - $42.00 per hour
Position Overview:
  • The ECLIPSE Counselor is a social worker or mental health clinician well-versed in early childhood development. Ideal candidates are highly proficient in infant and early childhood mental health, familiar with best practices in preschool education, and are committed to improving the outcomes for young children with sensitized stress responses enrolled in ECEAP preschools.
  • The role of the ECLIPSE counselor is to complete a psychosocial assessment using the DC: 0-5, provide dyadic therapy interventions with parents or caregivers, and help educators to develop approaches in the classroom that meet the child’s learning needs.
  • In particular, the clinician will support the caregiving that preschoolers need at home and at school to develop secure attachments and resiliency.
  • Approximately 50% of direct clinical time will be spent in home visits, and 50% will be in the classroom, with very limited use of telehealth as a last resort.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s level mental health clinician in good standing
  • Professional license held (preferred), or at least midway in the process of completing license
  • Use of a car and no restrictions on the ability to drive around Snohomish County
  • Proficiency with web-based platforms such as zoom, and secure databases
  • Ability to get up and down stairs, bend down to play with children on the floor, and twist to maintain direct observation of mobile children
  • Ability to lift a child up to 50 lbs.
  • Pass a DCYF Background Clearance allowing you to work with small children
Duties:
  • Provide home visiting or telehealth-based mental health supports to families focusing on attunement, sensitive caregiving, and emotion regulation of the child-caregiver dyad. Use strengths-based and proven practices to promote resilience in individuals and families
  • Administer psychosocial assessments, and use standardized tools to screen for developmental delays, perinatal/parental mood disorders, or family stress
  • Maintain an active caseload of no more than 15 families at a time, for a total of 20-21 children per year
  • Collaborate with ECEAP program staff to guide policy and training needs, and consult on matters related to child safety and development
  • Provide consultation to ECEAP educators which may include: recommending adaptations to class routines, suggesting coping strategies for transitions, attending Case Conference Meetings, and recommending school district services
  • Create a plan of care that may include mental health therapy targeting specific goals, classroom or instruction modification, and anticipatory support through transitions to new classrooms or to kindergarten
  • Gather birth and health history for each child, including any medical diagnoses or interventions
  • Refer caregivers to community resources such as groups, longer-term or more intensive mental health resources as needed
  • Collaborate respectfully with partners in Child Protection, CASA/GAL, Parent Allies, Court representatives, DDD, Early Intervention therapists, home visitors, and school district personnel to deepen the professional regard across systems, and be a positive ambassador for Snohomish County and ChildStrive
  • Coordinate with pediatricians to make referrals to specialist care if warranted
  • Make a case referral to CPS if there are concerns for abuse or neglect
  • Document all of the above in a confidential database or case file, and maintain the privacy of all parties involved
  • Participate in ongoing reflective supervision through ChildStrive, approximately one hour per week. Attend weekly case consultation group with other counselors
  • Complete ChildStrive’s RESTORE orientation and any other County-required trainings
  • Become familiar with Promoting First Relationships, and Circle of Security, and Positive Discipline (we will support your training in these evidence-based strategies)
