Job Overview
As a Golf Course Operations Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the planning and oversight of the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; organizing work schedules; and supervising staff and equipment usage.
- Instructing equipment operators on the proper operation and maintenance of mowing and other machinery, while also performing mowing tasks as necessary; overseeing and executing pesticide applications and/or managing pesticide application equipment.
- Supporting personnel management and evaluation, ensuring employee safety, and enforcing personnel discipline. You may also adjust daily work schedules based on professional assessments.
- Aiding in the completion of all agronomic and weekly assignment checklists.
- Assisting with irrigation repairs and maintenance.
- Conducting routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
- Ensuring that chemical storage and mixing areas comply with county, state, and federal regulations, and being responsible for the safety and guidance of chemical handlers and/or assistants.
- Executing fertilizer and chemical applications across all areas of the golf course and associated multi-family units.
- Performing snow removal duties as required.
- Engaging hands-on in all facets of golf course maintenance. The above outlines the general nature and level of work expected from individuals in this role. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree in Turf Grass Management or a related field is preferred. Membership in the GCSAA in good standing is required. A minimum of two years of experience in golf course grounds maintenance is necessary, along with at least one year of managerial experience; prior Assistant Superintendent experience is preferred. Strong communication skills at all levels are essential. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more is required. Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
