Job Summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a highly skilled Land Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will be responsible for providing technical surveying support at assigned facilities associated with the disposal of construction and demolition, and/or commercial and residential waste.

Key Responsibilities
  • GPS Instrument Operation: Operate GPS instruments, software programming, hardware management, and maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable survey data.
  • Instrument and Software Training: Provide training to operators of heavy equipment with GPS capabilities to ensure they can effectively use the technology.
  • Hardware and Software Installation: Install and set up hardware and software for new facilities to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Survey Calculations: Prepare calculations for various land surveying applications, including CADD volumes, boundary, and topographic creation.
  • 3rd Party Surveyor Management: Coordinate and manage 3rd party surveyors to ensure timely and accurate survey data.
  • As-Built Survey Data: Gather, compile, and stake out as-built survey data for infrastructure projects.
  • Survey and Surface Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of survey and surface data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all job duties are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  • Good Judgment and Responsibility: Exercise good judgment and take responsibility for ensuring accurate and reliable survey data.
  • Multi-Directional Communication: Ability to take directions from multiple sources and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Maintain compliance by wearing PPE when necessary.
  • Department Rules and Procedures: Follow all department rules, procedures, and instructions.
  • Trimble GPS Applications: Understanding of Trimble GPS applications and ability to use them effectively.
  • Construction Equipment and GPS: Familiarity with construction equipment and the use of GPS on machines.
  • Travel and Overtime: Ability to travel between offices and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a maximum of 10lbs, occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a maximum of 20lbs.
  • Working Environment: Frequently working outside, occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
  • Exposure to Environmental Factors: Exposure to areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Additional Requirements
  • Legally Eligible to Work in the United States: Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Pre-Employment Testing: Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be able to read and speak the English language.
