Position: Mechanical Assembly Technician, Final Assembly 1st Shift


Location: Torrington, CT


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts a diverse range of assembly operations, including electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and measurement product assembly on various components and assemblies.
  • Interprets and adheres to work instructions and sequence travelers for operations involving wiring, component installation, welding, and fitting on assembly units.
  • Sets up and adjusts equipment while maintaining tolerances in accordance with blueprint specifications.
  • Executes hands-on manufacturing tasks while achieving production quantity and quality standards.
  • Ensures all tasks are performed safely, adhering to FCE Environmental Health & Safety standards, OSHA, and relevant regulations.
  • Engages positively and respectfully with coworkers, management, and both internal and external clients.
  • Follows detailed work instructions to fulfill production requirements, including the interpretation of technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:


Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required; trade school or military experience is advantageous.

Experience: Prior experience in manufacturing or mechanical roles is highly preferred; experience in automotive repair, construction, or similar assembly environments will also be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in using electronically controlled equipment and hand tools.
  • Experience with tooling and assembly involving heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with quality measurement tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience operating air pallets, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lifts, pushes, pulls, and positions manufacturing components, which may weigh up to 25 lbs. (or more with assistance).
  • Ability to remain on feet and navigate the facility for a minimum of eight hours, with designated breaks.
  • Capable of performing repetitive motion tasks with full range of motion using both hands and arms.
  • Willingness to work with and around chemicals, including nickel-based compounds, adhesives, and solvents.
  • Must be prepared to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirators, and other PPE as necessary.
