Position Summary
Stratolaunch is in search of a Level II or Senior Electrical Systems Integration Engineer to contribute to the design, integration, testing, and upkeep of electrical and avionics systems for hypersonic vehicles. This role involves creating detailed shop definitions, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison to the manufacturing team, ensuring the effective installation and modification of existing aircraft subsystems. This position requires the evaluation of a diverse array of technical data, and candidates should possess a background in aerospace development along with relevant experience in systems integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions for the fabrication, installation, or modification of electrical and/or avionics subsystems.
- Act as the engineering liaison to troubleshoot documentation issues and provide immediate support on the manufacturing floor.
- Diagnose electrical and avionics ground test challenges.
- Create test plans and procedures as necessary.
- Support propulsion test stands and custom ground support equipment as required.
- Maintain regular and thorough communication with your supervisor.
- Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems.
- Travel as necessary to support departmental needs.
- Exhibit honesty, responsibility, integrity, and commitment to fulfilling obligations.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential responsibility effectively. The following qualifications are essential:
- Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: electrical engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft, and/or launch vehicle integration.
- Experience in integrating electrical power systems for launch vehicles or aircraft.
- Ability to create shop work instructions, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Familiarity with common aerospace components such as connectors, relays, and wire types.
- Hands-on experience with aircraft electrical system installation and best practices.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to communicate technical challenges to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks in alignment with business objectives.
- Experience in complex aerospace system development.
- Adaptability to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a security clearance.
Required Computer Skills
- Proficiency in wiring diagram tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, AC/DC power supplies, and signal generators.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Computer Skills
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software such as NX, CATIA, or Solidworks.
- Knowledge of Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics.
- Familiarity with Labview.
- Experience with configuration management systems, preferably Jira.
Education & Experience
Level II: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution and 2-5 years of engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Senior Level: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment
This position is based in a dynamic environment that may require occasional travel to support departmental objectives. Candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined in applicable regulations.
