Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse Job Description

At El Paso Children's Hospital, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to children with cancer and blood disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and coordinate all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Support the organization's vision and mission by utilizing knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care.
  • Contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Requirements:
  • Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree in Nursing.
  • RN License to practice in the State of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 6 months of hire).
  • APHON Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider (within 6 months of hire).
