Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain custody and security of prisoners and other incarcerated offenders
  • Enforce institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations
  • Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves
  • Guard facility entrances to screen visitors
  • Train and handle canines for tracking, search and rescue, and guard duty
  • Inspect and maintain physical control of keys, tools, and equipment
  • Oversee offenders during work assignments, meals, and recreation periods
  • Patrol assigned areas and report any problems
  • Prepare reports and respond to emergencies
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Any combination of training and experience that enables the applicant to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.)
