Position Summary: The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Manager plays a vital role within the leadership team at fairlife, LLC's facility in Goodyear, AZ. Reporting directly to the corporate Quality Director, the Senior QA Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, and executing all daily quality and food safety program activities at the Coopersville production site. This senior management role provides extensive quality assurance support and services to the fairlife organization and its clientele. The Senior Quality Manager is tasked with developing and implementing quality assurance initiatives and policies while serving as the primary liaison for quality assurance efforts across the fairlife operational framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the quality systems for the Goodyear, AZ facility, including daily operations of the laboratory and QA personnel; offer expert guidance and consultation to management on all aspects of quality assurance compliance.
  • Provide leadership and quality control in the interpretation and administration of QA systems, policies, and documentation; develop and implement internal protocols in line with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct investigations and provide recommendations regarding product quality issues, offering advice and guidance to management as necessary.
  • Within the framework of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), design and implement quality programs and strategies that align with the needs of the company's facilities, ensuring integration with overall company policies; monitor program efficiency and revise processes as needed to enhance effectiveness.
  • Offer daily guidance and support to management concerning quality practices, compliance with federal and state laws, and the interpretation of company quality assurance policies.
  • Oversee the development and management of various quality programs to ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Manage the implementation and coordination of food safety system programs to ensure adherence to product specifications and loss prevention.
  • Establish and implement both short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operational procedures; evaluate program effectiveness and recommend changes for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with contractor GMP and HACCP standards by managing interactions between departmental personnel and contractors.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and develop specific training programs for management and staff; facilitate new employee orientation regarding GMP, HACCP, and quality systems.
  • Coordinate QA staff activities, including work assignments, monitoring productivity, performance evaluations, and promoting training and development; participate in recruitment and hiring processes as needed.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and provide financial oversight to the QA departments.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dairy, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in dairy manufacturing and/or low acid aseptic manufacturing.
  • Certification in HACCP, PCQI/FSMA, Internal Audit, and Better Process Control School.
  • In-depth knowledge of FDA and local, state, and federal regulations applicable to dairy manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and train staff, including organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Proficient in analyzing and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policies, and implementing new strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and make informed decisions on sensitive issues.
  • Familiarity with computerized information systems utilized in quality assurance.
  • Understanding of employment practices and union avoidance strategies.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimation, and fiscal management principles.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity effectively.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Report any necessary repairs or adjustments that may impact product quality or food safety.
  • Comply with the handling and usage of color-coded container policies in production areas.
  • Perform all duties required to meet Company, Customer, and Government standards.
  • Proactively prevent occurrences of nonconformities related to food safety and product quality.
  • Identify and document any issues concerning food safety and quality.
  • Control the processing or delivery of nonconforming products until deficiencies are resolved.
  • In the event of absence, ensure that responsibilities are assumed by another qualified employee.
