We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Residential Financial Specialist at Mental Health Association of Nassau County. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting adults with mental illness by ensuring proper benefits are active and facilitating rent payments.

The Residential Financial Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with program members, primarily residents of the Community Living Program. This involves activating necessary benefits upon admission, maintaining regular communication with staff and consumers to ensure timely rent payments, and serving as a liaison between consumers and external organizations.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. You will need to maintain accurate records of Social Security and rent payments, monitor CLP rent payments, and schedule regular meetings with program staff and Directors to address any issues.

  • Screen, intake, and data entry to determine consumer eligibility for benefits.
  • Provide guidance to MHANC staff and directly assist consumers with completion of applications for benefits/entitlements.
  • Stay up-to-date on Social Security and OTDA regulations for benefit enrollment and monitor consumer Medicaid.
  • Maintain accurate records for Social Security and rent payments, and regularly review CLP rent payments.
  • Schedule monthly rent collection meetings with CLP program staff and Directors to review and discuss action plans to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Conduct outreach and maintain a database of resources available to support consumers in arrears.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field required.
  • Three or more years of experience in Social Services with specific work experience in entitlements, benefits, and working with individuals living with mental health/substance abuse diagnosis.
Salary Range

A competitive salary range of $45,000 - $50,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
