Job Title: Lead System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead System Engineer to join our team at QinetiQ US. As a key member of our Global Surveillance portfolio, you will play a critical role in the integration of existing and new technologies aimed at providing a fully integrated airborne solution with primary radio detection and ranging (RADAR) and Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) payloads across a robust command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Serve as the lead role in planning, organization, and integration of multiple assignments involving diverse groups and personnel. Provide lead technical responsibility for large complex projects or complete systems.
  • Requirements Development: Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of engineering processes, methods, and products. Develop product design descriptions, requirements, and system test documentation, safety analysis reports, and technical analyses against requirements.
  • Design Development: Develop engineering designs, implement architecture configuration specifications, and enable modeling, activity diagrams, and simulation use cases. Participate in design reviews and technical interchange meetings to assess and guide development activities performed by development contractors.
  • Quality Control: Manage requirements verification and traceability throughout design, development, and testing phases. Develop requirements flow down, verification methodologies, calibration plans, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and test plans to ensure program success.
  • Project Documentation: Lead in the preparation of major complex written documentation to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, technical manuals, disclosures, and scientific discoveries.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Systems and/or Electrical Engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant systems engineering experience; or Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Broad understanding of DoD airborne and ground systems, hardware, software, operations, and their interdependence.
  • Engineering experience supporting radar or communications integrations for air or ground-based systems.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical end results.
  • System modeling & simulation and/or system performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience generating requirements using Model-Based Systems engineering and/or requirements management software Rational/DOORS/JAMA.
  • Familiarity with tethered airborne systems and payloads.
  • Experience with specific Systems engineering and integration applied to DoD airborne and ground systems.
  • Experience with national security C5ISR programs.
