Job Responsibilities

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Ultrasound Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for delivering diagnostic ultrasound services. This role encompasses a variety of procedures and responsibilities, including:

  • Evaluating patient readiness for procedures while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and positioning.
  • Executing procedure plans that adhere to established protocols.
  • Identifying sonographic features of normal and abnormal tissues, adjusting scanning techniques to enhance image quality, and analyzing findings throughout examinations to ensure comprehensive assessments.
  • Conducting measurements and calculations in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Minimizing patient exposure to ultrasound energy while maintaining examination quality.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant protocols and guidelines during examinations.
  • Accurately documenting diagnostic and patient information in accordance with established policies.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate Degree or higher in a relevant technological field.
  • Completion of an educational program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a minimum of one year of obstetric experience.
  • Preferred: One year of experience as an MFM Sonographer.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current ARDMS certification in OB within one year of hire.
  • RDMS in Fetal Echocardiography to be obtained within two years of hire.
  • Fetal Nuchal Translucency certification to be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Nasal Bone Certification to be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
