Project Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team at Spencer Ogden. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, budget, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Design & Implementation: Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and technical drawings to ensure project requirements are met. Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to implement changes or upgrades.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects. Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential hazards.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop project budgets and track costs to ensure projects stay within financial constraints. Prepare cost estimates, monitor spending, and approve expenditures as necessary.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless project integration with ongoing operations. Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve plant processes, equipment, and systems, and recommend capital projects to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with suppliers and contractors to source materials, equipment, and services required for project completion. Evaluate proposals and select vendors based on quality and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or process industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering principles, chemical processes, and manufacturing systems. Proficiency in using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks). Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) regulations and other environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
  • Certifications: PMP certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
