Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Diagnostic imaging specialists play a vital role in the healthcare industry. As a CT Technologist at Intermountain Health, you will be responsible for performing various CT procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging. Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate patient identification and comfort throughout the examination process.
About the Role:
This position requires expertise in cross-sectional anatomy, adherence to safety protocols, and proficiency in operating CT equipment. You will also manage documentation, patient education, and quality control while working night shifts at Intermountain Health Logan Regional Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Perform exams per department protocol.
- Understand cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.
- Familiar with the ALARA program and follows proper radiation safety protocol.
- Demonstrates ability to critique own films.
- Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration.
- As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients.
- Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
- Provides appropriate patient education and ensures patient comfort.
- Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.
- Exhibits working knowledge of contrast injectors and laser printers.
- Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging. Incumbent will be able to view, transfer and manipulate images.
- Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
- Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
Work Environment and Shift Details:
This full-time (35 hours a week) position involves working 7-on-7 off night shifts, with 10-12 hour shifts from Monday to Friday (9:00 pm - 6:00 am) and Saturday to Sunday (6:00 am - 6:00 pm). The shift differential is 10-15% due to the night shift. Must be available for some weekends and holidays.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Radiography Certification/Registration (ARRT)
- Relevant State licensure (where required)
- Demonstrated CT proficiency
- Basic Life Support(BLS) certification (healthcare)
- Post-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.
