Environmental Remediation Specialist

At E3 OMI, we are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Remediation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our remediation services team, you will be responsible for identifying, removing, packaging, storing, and transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This role requires specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit. You will operate earth moving equipment and trucks, and maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment while carrying out tasks and work orders.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate hand and power tools, heavy machinery, and equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.
Record numbers of containers stored at disposal sites, specifying amounts or types of equipment or waste disposed.
Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment while carrying out tasks and work orders.
Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety and quality work product.
Decontaminate equipment or sites to remove hazardous or toxic substances safely.
Prepare and maintain work records/reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily field tickets, or inspection results.
Strong knowledge of relevant safety policies and procedures; apply safety policies/procedures to promote a safe work environment for the protection of clients, employees, and the public.
Interpret meaning of information to others; attend staff meetings; collaborate with others to communicate with supervisory personnel.
Requirements
HAZWOPER certification preferred.
High School Diploma or GED, preferred but not required.
Understanding of business principles and practices.
Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment & tools involved in remediation services.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Excellent oral communication skills.
Problem solving and analytical skills.
Working Conditions
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. The employee will be exposed to extreme seasonal temperatures, both very hot and very cold. The employee will be exposed to contaminants, hazardous conditions, and hazardous equipment. The employee will be exposed to whole body vibration and sounds, with noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable at times. The employee will be exposed to cramped work space, awkward positions, and sometimes very confined spaces.
Travel
This position requires travel for local and out-of-the-area activities. The employee may travel extensively when the construction site is not close to the main office or when responsible for activities at two or more sites.
