About the Role:
The Gilbert Public Schools District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraprofessional Technician to join our team. As a Paraprofessional Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the supervision and instruction of students with special needs in a regular education and/or special education classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist special education students with daily living skills, such as toileting, diapering, and transfers.
- Support the implementation of positive behavior plans to address specific student issues.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to meet the needs of special education students.
- Collaborate with teachers to evaluate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Provide support for academic instruction, including small group instruction and one-on-one support.
- Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team to support students with special needs.
- Maintain instructional materials and student files/records.
- Monitor special education students during lunch, playground, and life enrichment activities.
- Participate in the recording, reporting, and gathering of data for the MIPS program.
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions to support the teacher.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as injured students or fights.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience.
- CPR Training annually.
- CPR/First Aid Recertification every two years.
- Staff Development coursework determined by the Special Education Department.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Working Environment:
The Paraprofessional Technician will work in a regular education and/or special education classroom, with frequent interaction with students, teachers, and other staff members. The job requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
