Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Computer Science Instructor to join our team at Brookdale Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned grade-level academic classes to prepare students for success in high school and college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of students, align with the New Jersey Common Core Standards, and incorporate the Consortium/GEAR UP Curriculum.
  • Student Support: Provide individualized support to students, helping them to build confidence in subject areas, develop problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, and improve their academic skills.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Participate in the planning and delivery of team-teaching and thematic lesson plans with other instructors in the same subject area and/or grade level.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Submit typed lesson plans on time and in accordance with NJCB requirements, and assist in the administration, design, and evaluation of standardized diagnostic and placement tests as assigned.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate academic records and files, and provide regular progress updates to students and parents.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is required; or in limited circumstances, the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 2 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work with students of varying ages, cultures, and knowledge base; ability to communicate ideas, principles, and concepts effectively in individual or small group settings; and proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialized software programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Special Considerations
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to other sites as needed.
  • Availability: Daytime and weekend availability is required.
