Music School Student Assistant

The Music School student assistants play a vital role in supporting the operational and production requirements of the Music School. Their daily responsibilities encompass assisting with practice rooms, classes, ensembles, concerts, and recitals throughout the academic year.
GRAPHIC DESIGNER POSITION
The primary responsibility of the student graphic designer within the Music School is to enhance communication and marketing initiatives by producing high-quality digital and print materials.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Adhere to all university and departmental branding and marketing guidelines.
- Utilize proficiency in current graphic design software within Adobe Creative Suite to create both print and digital content.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the supervisor.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in the field, identify applicable uses within the organization, and maintain familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Exhibit a fundamental understanding of typography, color theory, and design principles in all produced materials.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Complete special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member, embracing and promoting the university's mission and values.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Current student at Liberty University in good academic standing.
- Able to commit to 15-20 hours per week (primarily during standard business hours).
- Possess a creative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback on creative work.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience in graphic design.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Eligibility for Federal Work Study, Work Assistant, or International Work Supplement.
- Major or minor in Graphic Design or a related field.
- Skills in photography.
- Proficiency in Photoshop and editing.
Communication Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey clear and articulate information.
- Proficiency in English to ensure professional correspondence.
- Possess public communication skills for professional representation of the university.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Excellent computer proficiency.
- Ability to analyze information and apply judgment to resolve routine and complex issues.
- Occasional travel to various locations.
- Ability to sit for extended periods for desk work.
- Regularly required to communicate orally.
- Occasional standing, walking, and climbing stairs as needed.
- Ability to handle materials and perform tasks requiring physical movement.
- Regularly lift items weighing 10 pounds or less.
Work Setting
The typical work environment for this position is a climate-controlled space that is well-lit with a moderate noise level. During music productions and concerts, sound levels may be elevated but will remain within industry safety standards. The role may involve facilitating events outdoors on occasion.
