Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard and Swim Instructor to join our team at Yavapai College. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for enforcing aquatic facility policies, recognizing and responding to emergencies, and inspecting the facility to ensure a safe environment for our patrons. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching children, youth, and adults learn-to-swim skills and techniques, demonstrating proper swimming skills, and supervising classes.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce aquatic facility policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies, including providing first aid and performing emergency procedures.
  • Inspect the aquatic facility daily to identify and report any unsafe conditions or equipment.
  • Supervise classes and provide instruction on learn-to-swim skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrate proper swimming skills and techniques to students.
  • Supervise classes and provide feedback to students.
  • Perform customer relations duties, including interacting with parents, participants, and staff to provide information and solve problems.
  • Set up and put away equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • Current Lifeguard, Red Cross Water Safety, and CPR certification.
  • Good customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • For Swim Instructor position: Must hold a Water Safety Instructor Certification or have at least six (6) months experience teaching all ages from 6 months to adult.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as a lifeguard or swim instructor in a public pool setting.
  • Work experience in a community college/higher education environment.
