As a System Safety Engineer at Lockheed Martin, you will play a critical role in analyzing hardware and software, establishing and maintaining system safety requirements, and supporting the Systems Engineering team throughout the lifecycle of the system. You will work closely with our team of experts to develop and implement safety solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
  • Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings
  • Develop and/or update System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements
  • Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements
  • Coordinate with test range safety teams and writing range safety reports to support testing
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards, their assessments, and their respective mitigation's

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience using current system safety standards and guidance in one of the following: MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, AFSPCMAN 91-710, NASA System Safety Handbook, JSSSEH, and/or other military/commercial system safety standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with one or all of the following: hazard identification, systems analysis, risk mitigation, safety requirements management, and associated deliverable documentation
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations, and customers
Clearance Level:

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
