POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Address plumbing issues such as repairing toilets, unclogging drains, and fixing leaks.
- Maintain HVAC systems by replacing and cleaning filters in air-conditioning and heating units, as well as other appliances.
- Fix windows, doors, and other fixtures including screens, shades, and locks.
- Service various equipment such as lawn mowers, kitchen appliances, and floor machines.
- Replace electrical components including light bulbs, fuses, and smoke detectors.
- Install or repair safety features like handrails and grab bars.
- Conduct repairs on furniture and mobility aids.
- Paint and maintain interior and exterior surfaces.
- Construct and assemble furniture and storage solutions.
- Manage roofing and drainage systems maintenance.
- Keep an inventory of replacement parts and establish vendor relationships for supplies.
- Maintain outdoor furniture and decorative elements.
- Perform routine inspections to ensure all areas are well-maintained.
- Ensure cleanliness after each task and verify equipment functionality.
- Organize and lead fire drills as required.
- Respond to urgent maintenance calls at any time.
- Oversee snow and ice removal from walkways and parking areas as necessary.
- Ensure that cleaning staff adhere to infection control protocols.
- Conduct daily cleanliness inspections of work areas.
- Train staff on the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Manage waste disposal in compliance with sanitation standards.
- Handle staffing needs for the maintenance and cleaning departments, including hiring and training.
- Assist in administrative tasks related to new hires and staff evaluations.
- Monitor departmental budgets for staffing and maintenance supplies.
- Participate in departmental and safety meetings.
- Document incidents involving supervised staff.
- Process invoices and receipts promptly.
- Prioritize safety and adhere to personal knowledge limits.
- Provide training on proper cleaning techniques and equipment usage.
- Act as a backup for maintenance and cleaning staff as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding resident care information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one year in a related field preferred.
- Job Knowledge: Proficient in using tools and equipment for repairs; knowledgeable in plumbing, electrical systems, and appliance maintenance.
- Other: Ability to read and interpret technical documents and safety regulations. Strong communication skills are essential, with proficiency in English for following instructions. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
