Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing MRI procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes operating MRI scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient, referring and questioning orders to the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Properly identifies patients and assists them during procedures, offering a brief explanation of the process.
  • Interviews patients to obtain a complete medical history, reviewing electronic medical records to obtain pertinent clinical information.
  • Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion, preparing and administering IV contrast as needed.
  • Evaluates the technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if necessary, recognizing abnormal anatomy and processing additional images as instructed.
  • Performs basic patient care functions, informing nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition and initiating life support measures as needed.
  • Assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile technique and adhering to infection control policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA-approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology or NMTCB certification in Nuclear Medicine, with advanced registry in MRI required within one year of hire.
  • CPR certification required.
