Job Summary: As an Ambulatory RN at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, you will work under the general supervision of a physician, mid-level provider, and/or nursing supervisor to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients. This role involves delivering nursing interventions to assigned patients, scheduling appointments, and reinforcing physician instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients, including assessing, implementing, and recording patient responses in the medical record.
  • Schedule patients' appointments, tests, and procedures via online computer systems or telephone, and reinforce physician instructions in person and through telephone contact.
  • Provide patient education and document patient responses in the medical record.
  • Ensure appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment.
  • Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and document actions in patients' medical records.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
  • Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by clinic or standard of care.
  • Registered Nurse licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas upon hire and Basic Life Support certification through a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of clinical experience.
