Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Managing Director - Residential Education at Texas Tech University. This key leadership role will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and direction to several functional areas within University Student Housing, including student leadership, academic development, recruitment & training, summer operations, and the off-campus housing office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement a vision for Residence Life that aligns with the department's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Direct and manage staff in the implementation of programmatic, administrative, and assessment initiatives for the aforementioned areas.
  • Collaborate with University Student Housing leadership to support the accomplishment of the department's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance of Residence Life staff regarding risk management requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of departmental initiatives, including residential curriculum and student scholarships.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of policies and procedures related to the management of Residence Life and University Student Housing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required and five years of administrative or management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive work experience in higher education and 3+ years of mid-level residence life management experience or related field.
  • A record of effective supervisory and budget management experience.
  • Knowledge and practice in adult learning theories and application of theory to the development of leadership.
  • Experience in creating academic partnerships.
  • Skills related to leading multi-functional team project teams preferred.
Working Conditions

This position will work in a fast-paced environment and will require the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The Assistant Managing Director - Residential Education will be required to work a standard Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. The position will also require travel to conferences and meetings, up to 25% of the time.
