Position Summary:

The Compliance and Legal Affairs Coordinator will be instrumental in upholding the University's adherence to federal and state regulations by supporting the legal and compliance office. This role encompasses vital case management, administrative assistance, and advocacy services. The coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and revising pertinent policies and procedures, conducting training sessions, and raising awareness of available resources. Furthermore, the position involves conducting investigations, managing documentation, and collaborating with various university departments to ensure a holistic support system for students.

Compensation:

Salary range: $25.85 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Title IX Compliance:

  • Formulate, execute, and refine policies and procedures concerning the rights and accommodations of pregnant and parenting students.
  • Deliver training and educational workshops for faculty, staff, and students regarding the rights of pregnant and parenting students under Title IX.
  • Enhance awareness of the resources and support available to pregnant and parenting students.
  • Act as a liaison for pregnant and parenting students seeking assistance or accommodations.
  • Champion the needs and rights of these students within the institution.
  • Manage accommodation requests from pregnant and parenting students, including adjustments to academic schedules and access to lactation facilities.

Case Management and Coordination:

  • Conduct intake meetings for complaints.
  • Assist in resolving complaints or issues related to discrimination or harassment.
  • Perform investigations into allegations of discrimination or non-compliance as necessary.
  • Maintain precise and detailed records of reports, investigations, and outcomes.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents and contracts.
  • Organize and manage legal files and records, ensuring they are current and accessible.
  • Oversee the document signature process and track document statuses.
  • Serve as an administrator and trainer for the University’s case management and mandatory training software.
  • Maintain records of University mandatory trainings.
  • Support the General Counsel and Compliance Officer by processing confidential information, attending meetings, and managing their schedules.
  • Assist with general office administrative tasks, including tracking deadlines and maintaining financial records.
  • Document communications between departments regarding planning and scheduling.
  • Attend meetings and take minutes as required.
  • Help maintain compliance-related information on the University’s web pages.

Support and Advocacy:

  • Collaborate with Student Life, Faculty, Human Resources, and student organizations to develop training programs and educational materials related to University compliance and the prevention of sexual misconduct.
  • Facilitate access to community and University resources for individuals involved in discrimination and harassment cases.

Research and Analysis:

  • Work with the Director of Institutional Research and the Office of Diversity & Belonging to conduct regular campus climate surveys.
  • Produce and distribute evaluation and assessment surveys.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in the legal field, student conduct, and investigative services is preferred.
  • Experience in delivering training and educational sessions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain an organized workspace.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace/Drive.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing documents and managing administrative tasks.
  • Commitment to providing excellent service to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Physical Requirements:

This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring extended periods of sitting and the use of computer equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone is essential. Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs may be required.
