Job Overview

We are seeking an Occupational Safety and Health Strategist to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program and project managers to identify potential compliance gaps on FAA engineering projects.
  • Analyze complex safety and health issues arising from unplanned events at FAA engineering project sites and develop effective solutions.
  • Develop and manage written OSH programs and standard operating procedures for the FAA Engineering Services Group.
  • Oversee safety or occupational health program elements including fall protection, electrical safety, confined space and hazardous materials.
  • Conduct technical hazard assessments involving the evaluation and analysis of laboratory data to develop hazard control options for asbestos exposures, mold growth, drinking water exceedances, confined spaces, or other similar health hazards.
  • Perform workplace environmental/safety inspections and develop abatement plans to control identified hazards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in identifying and evaluating personal protective equipment needs.
  • Identify and evaluate safety training needs.
  • Review project designs and identify safety concerns regarding asbestos, fall protection, electrical safety, and other work hazards.
  • Develop scopes of work for contract resources required to implement specific aspects of EOSH program operations.

About the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, such as Biology, with 8+ years of prior relevant experience. Or, a Master's degree in a similar field with at least 6+ year of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, teamwork, and risk management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form to individuals at different organizational levels.
  • Strong writing, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, large engineering organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with different schedules and requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be between $89,700 and $162,150 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
