We are seeking a skilled Roadside Ditch Maintenance & Excavation worker to join our team at Sarasota County. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, construction, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and road right-of-way systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance on stormwater conveyance systems, including pipeline, canal, and ditch blockages.
- Restore road right-of-ways and properties related to stormwater maintenance and repairs.
- Operate specialized equipment, such as vacuum/jet combination trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes.
- Respond to customer complaints and issues related to stormwater systems and road right-of-way maintenance.
- Complete and submit work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and/or road right-of-way areas.
- Ability to acquire a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months from the date of hire.
- A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
- Operation of backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and personal computers.
- Knowledge of current technology in stormwater conveyance systems maintenance practices.
