The primary objective of this role is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing services department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing a nursing services organizational structure that aligns with the facility's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the Minimum Data Set/Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS/RAI) Coordinator to schedule, conduct, and submit resident assessments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Allocate resources efficiently to ensure that residents receive the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
- Work closely with medical professionals, consultants, and organizations to ensure continuity of resident care and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with other resident services to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with long-term care regulations and requirements of participation to ensure compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures that meet current standards of nursing practice, comply with state and federal regulations, and reflect the facility's philosophy and operational objectives.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in obtaining staffing information that must be posted on a daily basis.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and periodically updating resident discharge plans to ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Develop and periodically update nursing services objectives and statements of philosophy to reflect the facility's mission and vision.
- Ensure that reference materials, such as the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR), regulations, and professional standards of practice, are current and readily available to nursing staff.
- Monitor the facility's quality measure reports to identify areas for improvement.
